    NATURE OF AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIPS

While I personally purchase, review and use every product I link to, these products are purchased from third party companies. I do not control these companies or have a financial interest other than an affiliate relationship.

Product Information

  • Why is there a Prop 65 warning on GreenSmoothieGirl products?

In 1986, the State of California passed the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, Proposition 65 (Prop 65) that applies not only to water, but also consumer goods sold in California. Companies are required to place a warning label on any product sold within the State of California that may expose a consumer to one or more substances deemed by the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. The current list maintained by the State of California contains over 900 substances (https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/proposition-65-list).

Many of the substances on the Prop 65 list are not distinguished between naturally occurring in the environment or are now present due to industrial activities (industry contaminants). Some of the substances accumulate in varying amounts, at different times, and different geographical locations around the globe and can be absorbed by plants grown in the soil.

GreenSmoothieGirl's products contain naturally occurring elements that are included on the Prop 65 list of substances that require a warning. The occurrence of these elements is to be expected and the result of the presence of these naturally occurring elements in the soil and environment.

The substances set by California on the Prop 65 list are significantly different from standards established notably by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), World Health Organization (WHO), and European Union (EU). Levels of substances that are known to the State of California to cause cancer would have to exceed the prop 65 standards by more than 1,000x before there is an observable effect on the rate of birth defects.

We test our products for quality and purity and we stand behind every product we sell. We are constantly working to ensure that our products are the best available and meet the standards of our amazing customers.

  • I'd like information on the Infared Sauna

Robyn's overview of the benefits of sauna use.

  • How are your products made “raw?”

The best short answer is "dehydrated."

It's a little more complicated since we have a raw product (i.e. over 95% of the product was dried at under 120 degrees F).

Everything except the Maca and Spirulina (which wouldn't be safe raw) is dehydrated in various ways under 120 degrees to maintain the raw status.

For example, the Noni Fruit is dried over 3-4 weeks in natural shade under controlled conditions. The Mesquite pods go in a low-temp dehydrator at 100-104 for 4 hours before cold-milling. Stuff like that.

The goal is to remove the moisture from the ingredient so that it can't grow microorganisms (and pass the "micro" test both into the copacker's as an ingredient, and back out as a mixed product).

  • Where are your products sourced from?

Protein: Pea: US Quinoa: Peru Agave Inulin: Mexico. Processed and packaged in USA

Protein/superfoods combo: Pea: US Quinoa: Peru Agave Inulin: Mexico Flax: US Chia: Mexico Hemp: US Vanilla: Madagascar Green Tea: India Superfood Blend: various Processed and packaged in USA

  • Ultimate Minerals

    Ultimate Minerals Directions and Dosage

Ultimate Minerals Directions: Shake before use (Some settling is normal). Dilute 1 serving in  8 oz of pure, non-chlorinated water. No refrigeration needed. Do not freeze.

Serving Size: 1ml (1 dropper pull or about 25 drops)

    Servings Per Container: 120

Recommended Use: 3 Servings per day, spread throughout the day, for maintenance. New users should begin with one serving per day, adding one serving each week until achieving the recommended dosage of 3 servings per day.

Are Ultimate Minerals okay for infants and children?

Yes. For children 12 and under we recommend half a dose. So slowly work up to half a dropper pull in purified water twice a day. For infants it’s probably best to only do half a dropper 1 time a day.

Do the Ultimate Minerals contain Heavy Metals?

Ultimate Minerals undergoes heavy metals testing and is free of heavy metals. Any trace minerals in Ultimate Minerals traditionally associated with "heavy metals" (lead, etc) are in the organic, ionic form used by organisms (including humans) for necessary cellular function. They are not in the isolated, processed form that is toxic to living organisms.

Where are the Ultimate Minerals Sourced From?

Our minerals are sourced out of the Fruitland Formation in Texas.

What Minerals Are In the Ultimate Minerals Product? What are the amounts of each mineral?

Because fulvic/humic acid is "mined" from ancient plant deposits in the Fruitland Formation, the amounts of each micronutrient (minerals, vitamins, aminos, etc) is going to vary with each batch produced, so to attempt to put an amount on each is folly.  The substances typically found in Fulvic/Humic acid are as follows.

Should I be worried about Mineral Overdose while taking the Ultimate Minerals?

Fulvic acid contains trace amounts of both macro and trace minerals; it is not the amount of each mineral and other nutrients inherent to fulvic acid, but the type and balance of minerals that is important in fulvic supplementation.  Unlike rock-derived minerals, the minerals in fulvic acid are plant-derived and thus organic and ionic, meaning readily bioavailable and absorbed differently than rock-derived minerals.

This also means that these minerals are not in isolation as when a person takes a calcium supplement, but work together as nutrients from plant food does, decreasing any risk of overdose on any one nutrient.  As I am not a scientist or doctor, I can't state that there is NO risk of overdose, but knowing how these substances work synergistically, my own opinion is that overdose risk is so miniscule as to be negligible to nonexistant.

Fulvic acid is not recommended to replace doctor-recommended supplementation of single macro minerals like calcium, magnesium, or potassium, or even a trace mineral like iron.  There is simply not enough of any one of these minerals to correct a medically-significant deficiency of an isolated mineral, especially macro minerals.

However, I would suggest that a fulvic supplement is much much more than a way to address trace mineral deficiencies on an isolated-mineral level.  Its composition, form, and function is a whole-organism approach to supporting health. Providing a source of organic trace minerals is one of those functions.

What is in the Ultimate Minerals and how does it work?

To be clear, Ultimate Minerals is a fulvic and humic acid supplement. Though it does naturally carry minerals, trace minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and elecrolytes,  fulvic acid and humic acid's value is in HOW those are carried and how it operates on cells.  From a 3rd party article on Livestrong:

“Because fulvic acid provides electrolytes that enhance the electric potential of cells, this can also benefit mineral deficiencies that may be rooted at the cellular level. For example, deficiencies of iron, calcium and magnesium can be more difficult for your cells to absorb without adequate levels of fulvic acid present in the body.”

We call our product Ultimate Minerals because the rare trace minerals in fulvic/humic is usually why people take a fulvic/humic supplement, and because these minerals are particularly bioavailable because of the unique molecular structure of fulvic and humic acids.

    Do the Ultimate Minerals Expire?

The Ultimate Minerals won’t go bad since they are essentially dirt, but we recommend that you store the Ultimate Minerals in a cool dark place consume them within 1-2 years to avoid thickening.

Do you test your Ultimate Minerals for Heavy Metals?

Yes we most certainly do test for heavy metals. This is very important. Testing is routinely done on Mercury, Lead, Arsenic and Cadmium.  We also run an element analysis quarterly where other more rare metals would be detected.

There are significant differences in quality of raw material sites throughout the world. Some raw humate deposits have naturally occurring levels of heavy metals. I know of several in the US such as Utah, the Northern US and SE US. Some of these humates are still usable in industrial applications.

Also some sites are exposed to airborne heavy metal drift from coal fired electrical power plants especially where raw materials are stored out in the open for extended periods of time and not used as they are uncovered. These raw materials could likely test for mercury and cadmium.

The Fruitland Formation is extremely remote and very far from any coal fired electrical power plants. It is pretty far from anything period.  Raw materials are transported and processed as they are uncovered. The Fruitland's location also prevents a lot of other types of contamination.

The 26-Day Detox will take you through 4 different phases, each of which have different recipes utilizing foods to systematically target the detoxification of specific organs in your body. The food required in the detox are real foods that you can purchase at your grocery store or health food store, and you eat plenty of food and should not feel very hungry. Robyn will take you through a colon cleanse, kidney cleanse, gallbladder cleanse, she incorporates detoxing protocols such as dry skin brushing, oil pulling, coffee enemas etc to detox your lymphatic system and liver. It is not just a "diet".

Each of the 4 phases have different foods. The first phase you will eat lots of smoothies as well as some other raw and cooked foods like a potato soup and steamed broccoli. You will eliminate salt for the entire 26 days and will eliminate sugars for the first 4 days. There are a few days where you eat lots of watermelon and there are lots of really yummy recipes like purple heaven and black bug soup.

This detox is far superior to most detox programs out there. It changes lives. Robyn incorporates the nutrition, internal cleansing, and healing protocols of Dr. Max Gerson in her 26 Day Detox as well as the protocols of Dr. Bernard Jensen, Dr. Richard N. Anderson, Dr. Ann Wigmore, Dr. Max Gerson, Dr. Johanna Budwig, Dr. Gabriel Cousens, and even Hippocrates. She has researched Detoxing for years, been to several clinics around the world.

Both the 12 Steps to Whole Foods Programs and the 26-Day Detox Programs are sold separately with no crossover.

  • With so much in 12 Steps...where is the best place to start? How am I to do it all?

That’s why it’s 12 Steps! Just one at a time.

Start with Step 1! Stay there until you’re feeling the difference and that motivates you to take another step!

For your NEXT step, see what intrigues you. You don’t have to do the program in order! And make sure you’re on the Facebook support page (if you purchased that option) to ask questions of us, and your peers….stay plugged in!

And remember, one recipe at a time, adds to your arsenal…..you don’t have to learn a LOT of habits to find that, voila! You’re a whole foodie! And you’ll slowly but surely start to feel and look better.

We aren’t super militant about food around here, but we try to keep our diet organic, mostly plant based, and minimize dairy, gluten, and processed foods.

If someone wants to take it that extra 10%, any occasional recipe that calls for something they don't want can almost always be left out or substituted, and we're happy to help with ideas.

Robyn recovered her health by eating 60-80% raw, mostly organic, primarily plant based foods, and she keeps dairy, gluten grains, and processed foods to the "fun foods only" zone and feels that there has to be a bit of "play" in the diet in order to have a social life and not feel like a "mistake" you make is catastrophic and means you can't eat healthy.

Some people with really serious health problems may need to be extremely vigilant about their diet for a time, with a zero-tolerance policy towards sugar, dairy, gluten, and/or meat for some.

Robyn’s way of maintaining optimal health is to be vigilant about the 60-80 percent of her diet being greens (salads, green smoothies, green juice are DAILY staples, she never misses) veggies, and then fruit, legumes, whole grains mostly the gluten free kind, nuts and seeds. For sure she “plays” on Saturday nights, and occasionally...and then doing a very strict DETOX twice a year...She believes this the “2017” way of navigating a toxic, fast-food world, where you live with and around people who have no idea how to be healthy, and you have a social life, but you also maintain some basic principles of good nutrition.

  • How long did it take for Robyn to lose all her weight?

It took me quite a few months. I had 70 pounds to lose.

  • How can I keep losing weight long term?

I lost weight on the detox and then gained some of it back. Now I’m doing 12 Steps but not losing weight as much as I’d like.  How can I keep losing weight long term?

Stay the course and remember that this is a lifestyle change. You didn’t get to the condition you’re in overnight and you won’t get out of it that quickly either.

You may continue to experience various detox symptoms as you progress through 12 Steps and add new things and foods to your daily diet. Stay vigilant and aware and open. Keep track of foods that may have an adverse effect on you and adjust accordingly.

Trust the process. And trust that as you keep putting in more good whole foods, your body is making the changes that it needs to in order to be well...and if weight loss is what it needs it will do that too.

Also I suggest making green smoothies--heavy on the greens, light on the fruit--a bigger part of your diet. And/or big, colorful, high-variety salads. With greens, yes--but also veggies (raw or steamed), and legumes like kidney beans or black beans or chickpeas. Bulky, high-fiber plant foods, in whatever form YOU prefer them (smoothies, salads, stir fries, etc.) are the answer to pushing other addictive, processed foods that cause weight gain OUT.

Now, if you’re doing all that, and not losing weight?

Google a bioidentical hormone specialist, in your area, and get a full blood panel. (Not a regular OB/GYN or GP. They just measure your TSH and send you home if you’re within their HUGE “normal” range.) You may have a hormone issue, if eating super-healthy doesn’t cause weight loss. Thyroid disorder is very, very common.

  • Would I lose any of the benefits and/or nutritional values of the green smoothies if I made them the night before for my breakfast and lunch?

I make them the night before all the time!

I just recommend eating it within 48 hours OR freezing the leftovers in ice cube trays to easily blend back up fresh in the future.

To paraphrase Michael Greger from nutritionfacts.org on this issue, you need to prepare your food in such a way that you will eat it to get the most nutritional value.

Perhaps a SMALL amount of nutrition is lost when making them in advance, but 100% is lost if we don't eat the good food at all because either we didn't like the way it was prepared or didn't have time etc.

So please prepare your smoothies and other food in advance and do not worry about the negligible loss of nutrition.

  • How long will a Green Smoothie keep?

How do you freeze a Green Smoothie and how long will it last?

You can freeze a Green Smoothie indefinitely.

I pour them into pint size jars and store in the freezer.

Then when ready to use...allow to thaw at room temperature or in the fridge and if you can, re-blend for better texture.

You can also freeze in ice cube trays to re-blend again later as well.

How long can you keep a Green Smoothie in the fridge for?

Smoothies in the fridge are best not kept for longer than 2 to 3 days.

Detox FAQ

  • Can you tell me more about the 26-Day Detox?

The 26-Day Detox will take you through 4 different phases, each of which have different recipes utilizing foods to systematically target the detoxification of specific organs in your body. • What juicer does Robyn recommend?

Robyn has a Norwalk and she believes this is the best juicer, but others like
Champion, Omega, Breville, or Jack LaLanne are great as well.

  • What is the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 in the Detox?

The Detox Program is 26 days long, and goes through several phases that allow specific organs to rest, purify, and rebuild. You can choose to participate in Level 1, where no special equipment is needed. This is recommended for first-time Detoxers who have been eating the Standard American Diet.

Level 2 is for people who eat a cleaner diet and are willing to own (or borrow) and use a juicer and an enema (bag or bucket) kit for coffee and/or wheat grass juice enemas.

Both the level 1 and level 2 protocols are detailed in the Detox Manual, which you get after you purchase the Detox program.

  • What if I can't find all organic produce for the Detox

It is best to eat organic all the time but especially while on the detox. You want to avoid putting chemicals and pesticides in your body or on your skin while detoxing. If you can’t find everything organic, its most important that the veggies you juice (if you are participating in level 2) are organic, and I recommend at least buying the following from the “Dirty Dozen” organic (Strawberries, Spinach, Apples, Celery, Tomatoes, Potatoes) as these fruits and vegetables have the most pesticide residues on/in them. Also imported produce from Chile and Mexico is likely to be coated in pesticides banned in the U.S. American-grown produce is preferable, although U.S. growers do use plenty of harmful chemicals.

If you must buy conventional produce for your detox, please use a good organic veggie wash, available at any health food store or online. You can also make your own inexpensively.

  • How can I detox heavy metals

The 26-Day Detox is great for detoxing heavy metals. I would definitely take the Ultimate Minerals while detoxing and after. The Ultimate Minerals is a mix of humic and fulvic acid. Fulvic acid has dozens of beneficial uses for the human body. It transports nutrients, is a super-antioxidant, increases alkalinity, modulates hormones, regulates neurologic function, acts as an electrolyte, boosts immunity, and is the best source of bioavailable organic trace minerals. Fulvic acid is also nature’s most powerful natural heavy metal detoxifier.  It has a unique molecular structure that binds to heavy metals, making them inert. They can then be flushed safely out of the body with the help of humic acid.

We also recommend that you go for EDTA chelations by IV at a good functional medicine practitioner who provides that.

Robyn's Recommendations

Robyn's Opinions and Recommendations

  • What Skin Care and Cosmetic Products does Robyn Recommend?

Robyn recommends AnnMarie Skin Care and products from The Spa Doctor

For foundation, don't use products containing mineral oil, which are generally the low cost tanning oils and foundations as well as many other skin products. If you’re going to use facial powder or foundation, choose “bare minerals” instead—still not nontoxic, but far better than mineral-oil products.

When choosing cosmetic products, look for natural, greener products at your health food store instead of a discount store like Target or Wal-Mart. Although standard markets are increasingly boarding the organic foods bandwagon, they are slower to offer nontoxic personal care products.

Brands like Kiss My Face, Vita Bella, All Stop, Burt’s Bees, Garden of Eve, and others are vigilant to avoid endocrine disruptors, heavy metals, and poisonous chemicals in their products. But many who call themselves “nontoxic” eliminate one toxic ingredient for another. So it’s imperative to know what toxic ingredients are and always read labels.

We also have a great resource called the Genius Guides which include a wallet card for Toxic Cosmetic Ingredients you should avoid.

  • Infrared Sauna

An infrared sauna in your home is like having your own personal retreat, wellness center, and de-stressing zone!

Read Robyn's report on why her infrared sauna is possibly her most important, high-impact health purchase in the past 5 years

    Sauna pricing and information.

Group buy pricing for Influence Saunas is available all year, but extra freebies and additional special offers are only available during our annual sale event.

  • Skin Cancer

Below are 4 of Robyn's posts regarding skin cancer and what she did about her own skin cancer.

Disclaimer: please consult with a trusted healthcare professional before you make any decisions for yourself. We do not give health care advice. This is Robyn's story and I do not suggest you do what she did. It’s not for everyone. You should, however, know your options, the pros and cons.

  • What opinions does Robyn have on the Blood Type Diet?

One of the more frustrating diet plans, to me, is the blood type diet. The idea is that you have a certain blood type because your ancestors were from a certain place, so they adapted to a specific diet. You are then instructed, based on having O, A, B, or AB blood, to eat according to the prescription. Vegetarian, highly carnivorous, a mix of the two, grains or no grains, etc.

The diet has no real science backing it. Only a very dubious theory.

The theory collapses when you consider that every indigenous population of the world has all the blood types: A, B, AB, and O. It’s also highly problematic when you consider how much genetic mixing and nomadism we’ve had in recent centuries. Few people have both parents going back to the same origins

You may feel better because the author of the nutrition program eliminates gluten from the type O diet. That will make everyone feel better, as grains have been hybridized and are causing many people problems.

And he tells all type A’s to eat vegetarian, which is actually a good diet for most, if not all, people.

(As always, I refuse to take a stand on whether a limited amount of animal protein is good or desirable or at least acceptable—but it’s clear that more plants, and less animals, is across the board, more environmentally sustainable and more health-promoting.)

And you may feel better because regardless of your blood type, you’re told to eliminate processed foods such as white flour.

Read the complete article on my opinion here.

  • What does Robyn think about the Autoimmune Paleo Diet?

What does Robyn think about the Autoimmune Paleo Diet? (That Izabella Wentz recommends for Thyroid issues.)

The AIP diet may be worthwhile, short term, while the gut heals...and I’ve discussed this with Izabella, who like Paleo (she’s young, and I’ve spent about 18 more years on this planet studying diet than she has…) but while it’s good in that it bans dairy and processed food...it’s too much meat for me.

I do NOT feel good eating like that. And if you read “How to Not Die”...you’ll understand why. Best health book of 2016 and there are 130 pages of references to the studies Dr. Michael Greger, MD cites about the power of the plant-based diet.

Izabella is fantastic, and her work is life changing...but Paleo is a fad, and I believe that AIP is a fad too...some good things there, but banning legumes and whole grains? That’s just going way too far!

Most of Africa, with no access to American processed foods, eats just grains and vegetables and they have virtually NO heart disease or cancer, or neurological disease or auto-immune.

I’m actually about to be on my friend Dr. Alan Christianson’s program (he’s an adrenal and thyroid and hormone expert), an NMD, talking about how I reversed my own auto-immune disease with a plant-based diet.

I was recently talking to one of our new employees, who did AIP and felt terrible. Try it if it resonates with you, but remember, it’s just another new fad diet.

  • What research has Robyn done on Vitamin D sources? What does she recommend for those suffering with Vit D deficiencies?

There is no substitute. Take your Vitamin D3 + K2 in the winter, great idea—but we still need sunshine. Human beings had no problem getting regular sunshine until the past few generations. With the shift away from an agricultural society, populations, in general, now spend the majority of their time indoors.

Turns out, it is a misconception that people should stay out of the sun and/or slather themselves with sunscreen. In fact, the #1 correlate for cancer risk is how far from the Equator you are! The further away, the less sun, the higher the cancer risk. High Vitamin D levels actually correlate to low cancer risk.

Lack of sunshine is also a perfect recipe for depression. In the last two decades, a diagnosis of “Seasonal Affective Disorder” is practically an epidemic. That’s because people who live far from the Equator, with long, overcast winters, are living in conditions that few humans ever have—totally indoors. Our biology demands sunshine and everything that comes with it—hands in the black dirt, grounding us, feet in the grass, breathing clean air, and feeling the warm sun on our skin.

Don’t wash that Vitamin D off when you come inside. It takes hours for it to internalize, as hormone, and work with calcium to build bone.
